People do not change because they are told to nor because of information given, rather people change when they feel that their anxieties about loss of competence, territory and control are understood, that is human nature. Your job and that of change leaders is to demonstrate understanding as all the people in the business work through change.
At first people focus on things as they were and deny the change, perhaps the previous strategy reinforced a particular culture, which now may be a resistant force for change to occur. The leadership must be very clear at this point that change will happen and allow time for this to sink in. As Leader you will find yourself repeating the vision and objectives many times whilst your people turn inwards, preoccupied with fears about what will become of them, getting angry and resisting. This is the time to listen, acknowledge feelings, show patience and deal with some of their concerns.
